Educational centre to prevent child labour and keep children in school
Humanium is an international NGO that supports projects to help children around the world. It works in cooperation with other associations and NGOs to strengthen and develop existing local structures. Combining legal tools with psychosocial techniques, it contributes to the protection of children, their development, their survival, and their education.
The project involves opening a residential rehabilitation centre. Twelve centres already exist, supported by Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan (Education for All), a programme run by the Indian government. Over a period of two years, the centre provides 50 children with personalised counselling, a healthy diet, medical care and all the equipment required for their rehabilitation (clothing, shelter, drinking water and appropriate sanitation facilities). Extra-curricular activities (sport, drawing, etc.) are also organised, in order to give children the opportunity to develop and show their talents.
