Mumo2, a mobile museum for Eastern France
Les amis du MuMo
MuMo is the first free, mobile contemporary art museum for children. Since 2011, it has reached 80,000 children in seven countries across Europe and Africa. Comprising a container and a truck, the MuMo can be deployed in playgrounds and village squares, giving access to a display of 14 sensitive, light-hearted or sensory works.
Created by French designer Matali Crasset, this truck-museum will welcome children and adults for an exceptional exhibition featuring one or more works from the FRAC (Regional Contemporary Art Collections). The purpose of MuMo 2 will be to go out and meet people in rural and suburban areas (neighbourhoods concerned by urban policy), who do not live close to the usual cultural offering. The museum displays so-called “legitimate” art works but does not seek to impose them in a way that is totally disconnected from local realities. The project also aims to reduce the isolation of these areas and to create new impetus. In 2018, MuMo 2 will travel up and down France, particularly the eastern part of the country.
Location: eastern France
