This non-profit organization, which covers the whole of the Basse-Normandie region in northern France, was founded 20 years ago with the initial purpose of improving access to and upkeep in employment. Its five focuses today are: employment and social support, gender balance, business creation assistance and geographical mobility. L’Étape is the driving force behind the region’s socially responsible transport platform. In 2006 it became as the first non-profit organization to obtain the French professional equality label.
L’Étape proposes startup of a roaming socially responsible garage to extend the services available from the socially responsible transport platform. Running costs are kept to a minimum by using a specially fitted repair call-out vehicle to carry out breakdown repair operations at motorists’ homes or in the carparks of partner organizations (worksites, etc.). The organization’s second objective is to set up a network of garages based on existing structures to handle more substantial repair operations that cannot be carried out directly by the call-out vehicle. Foundation support addresses acquisition of the call-out vehicle.share this project
