Off-site trips with “Transfer”
Institut Médico-éducatif (IME) Château de Villers
Location: Seine et Marne, France
The IME medical-educational institute in Château de Villers takes in children and teenagers with intellectual disabilities. The staff provide specialised teaching that takes account of psychological and psycho-pathological aspects, and also use rehabilitation techniques.
The “Transfer” project consists in organising an off-site trip twice a year with 12 young people and four adults. The trips serve to step outside of the formal learning environment and provide a special learning experience by creating a structured framework for the enhanced discovery of the environment. The trips are mainly sports-based, supervised by qualified instructors, and address teenagers’ needs for physical activity.
The support of the PSA Foundation will serve to finance in part the transport, activities and accommodation of two trips.
THE ROLE OF THE SPONSOR
Jean Martial Breuil, Head of Departmental Information Control, Finance Department – Poissy Services
Personally concerned by the subject, the sponsor has been fully committed to the organisation for four years. He has taken part in several trips, advocating the autonomy of the young people concerned and the need for them to step outside of the IME institute environment.
