The project

With 600 residents and 600 employees, the APAEI Saint-André institute is the largest establishment for mentally disabled people in the Haut-Rhin département. Set in a 20-hectare park, the institute works to stimulate the mental and physical development of the residents, exploring three main fields: relationships with animals, land cultivation, and sport, through biking. Clinical results demonstrate the effectiveness of these therapies. Three years ago, the institute acquired a tricycle for children with multiple disabilities that allows them to pedal in practically autonomous fashion and in complete safety. The institute is calling on the Foundation for the purchase of a new tricycle, this time for young autistic people.
