Breaking isolation in rural areas

The association

Mouvement ATD Quart Monde

The project

ATD Fourth World Brittany wishes to acquire a vehicle to help families take part in the activities it organises in the district of Antrain. The towns and villages in this rural area have a total of almost 10,000 inhabitants. The area is classed as a ZEP (priority education area) with many families in situations of extreme poverty. Their isolation is compounded by the absence of public transport. Four leisure/meeting centres have been set up in villages around the district. Since1983, ATD Quart Monde has put in place a number of initiatives to bring the poorest families together with others and to make it easier for them to reach the leisure/meeting centres and take part in cultural and educational activities all year round.
