Bringing down walls in the favela
Arca do Saber
Location: Vila Prudente, São Paulo, Brazil
Arca do Saber is a Franco-Brazilian NGO that every day takes in 120 children aged 6-14 from the Vila Prudente favela. The organisation works to strengthen community ties and open children up to the world through a range of cultural and sports activities.
The “Bringing down walls in the favela” project consists in taking children outside of the favela where they live to discover new activities. They will travel twice a week to the closest cultural and sports centre to play basketball, handball and volleyball and once a month go on a cultural outing.
The Foundation’s support will be used to finance the rental cost of a bus for these outings.
