An original partnership between the PSA Peugeot Citroën Foundation and the French Red Cross
Un partenariat inédit entre La Fondation PSA Peugeot Citroën et la Croix Rouge Française
The PSA Peugeot Citroën Foundation and the French Red Cross signed a nationwide partnership in 2012 on a key issue of mutual concern: the fight against isolation. Given today’s mobility issues and the determination of the French Red Cross to increase its presence in the field, the aim of the “Croix Rouge sur Roues” project is to enhance the mobility of the NGO’s initiatives.
Across France, the French Red Cross is observing an increase in poverty, a rise in the average age of the population and a decrease in local public service, along with a growing phenomenon of isolation in certain parts of the country. For its part, the PSA Peugeot Citroën Foundation is acutely aware of the vital importance of widespread access to mobility given that the absence of means of transport is a decisive factor in social, educational and cultural exclusion.
The three-year partnership will take concrete shape in 2013 with the creation of mobile resources financed by the Foundation offering services that meet the fundamental needs of food aid and clothing aid, accompanied by reception, listening and psychological support. This effort will play a major role in breaking down isolation and maintaining social links. The project is part of the French Red Cross’s strategy on developing new approaches to helping people to become independent, diversifying grassroots presence to better meet needs, and extending territorial coverage to reach a broader public.
Through the “Croix Rouge sur Roues” initiative, the Foundation is seeking to play a part in facilitating access to social support for all those in precarious circumstances, including the most isolated individuals.
