DARING FOR ZERO

Embracing Green Energy and Reducing Emissions

November 21, 2023

In March 2022, we presented Dare Forward 2030, a bold strategic plan that paves the way for Stellantis to achieve Carbon Net Zero by 2038, from well to wheel and throughout the entire supply chain(1). This unprecedented commitment requires coordination and dedication across the entire Company.

Since the announcement of the plan, several teams have been working internally and with external suppliers to develop and implement the most efficient and effective solutions to meet these targets.

In the “Daring for Zero” series, we get a first-hand account from a few of these teams of how they are delivering on this commitment and bringing us closer to achieving our carbon neutrality ambition.

Meet Juliana Coelho, Head of Stellantis Production Way, and Marie-Pierre Zerr, Head of Process Engineering for Energy, Flow, Automation & Infrastructure, as they share what they are doing to reduce the CO2 footprint of our manufacturing activities.

Responsible energy management is a major challenge facing humanity with implications for individuals, businesses, and the planet. In 2022, a quarter of CO2 equivalent emissions came from the production of energy itself with energy producers emitting 9.0 gigatons of CO2(2).

At Stellantis, we are moving to a decarbonized production system to reduce our energy consumption and targeting a 50% reduction in absolute greenhouse gas emissions (Scopes 1 and 2) by 2025, compared to 2021 levels. As Juliana and Marie-Pierre explain in the video, we are focused on improving how we operate equipment in our plants and on consumption during the production process, as well as maximizing on-site generation of green electricity.
